Taking Care with COVID

With the total of new daily cases of COVID-19 on the rise in Rhode Island and all across the country, we wanted to touch base on everything we are doing at ABA to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families. Here is a brief overview of some of our precautions and some additional information in case of closure.

  • Students and staff will be masked at all times.

  • We are still following our check-in and dismissal process for dancers, as we have been since June when we reopened. Temperature checks, masks, and attendance at the door are required.

  • Staff will continue to clean barres, yoga mats, balls, and high touch areas between classes, as well as the floors.

  • Absolutely no parents in the lobby, office, or studios for any reason. If you are a parent waiting in your car for your child's class to finish and need to use the restroom, please use the side hallway door that leads directly to the bathrooms.

Additionally, we are putting together a “just in case” Zoom schedule to have ready for your dancers if the state closes down businesses. Staff will be ready to make the switch immediately in the event of a closure. We recommend dancers have a clean, clear space to take class to prevent injury and provide the ability to dance as full out as is safely possible.

How to stay in shape at home

  • Stay motivated. We will not be zooming forever and we will be back to performing soon! Keep your goals in mind and have a plan to achieve them while at home.

  • Dance full out and don’t skip class! It is tempting to sit on your couch instead of working hard, but remember what you are working towards!

  • Talk to your friends before class and remember that you are still working together!

  • Talk with your teacher about how class is feeling for you at home. They may be able to offer modifications based on environment and equipment.

  • Dedicate a quiet space for dancing! If dancing in a common area in your home, kindly ask your family to reduce their noise to allow for focus and less distractions.
